Losing weight takes a whole new level of determination and discipline. But what is really unmotivating is when you lose weight but then stubborn areas of your body won’t budge. It’s more than common to have some stubborn areas of fat and oftentimes these areas include the stomach, arms, legs, and love handles. What nobody tells you when it comes to losing weight is that you can’t decrease the number of fat cells. What happens when you lose weight is the fat cells shrink. So even if you have shrunk those fat cells it may not ever be enough to actually shrink the areas that store the most fat. However, that’s not to say it’s not possible. But hello… we live in the 21st century here.

For centuries both men and women have been opting for non-surgical fat removal methods. Now with advanced technologies there are now non-surgical, non-invasive, fat reduction treatments that can help you achieve those results that don’t involve surgery.

YOUR ANSWER IS COOLSCULPTING

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved Cryolipolysis treatment, a specific technique of lipolysis (the destruction of fat cells) that uses the process of freezing individual fat cells to reduce or entirely shed problem areas, such as stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Sounds too good to be true? Believe us, it’s real!

CoolSculpting in Chicago can be used on a variety of areas of the body, including:

  • Under the chin
  • Love handles
  • Back rolls
  • Under the bra
  • Inner & outer thighs
  • Hips
  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • And more

is a non-invasive treatment that reduces body fat and tightens up loose skin. CoolSculpting uses a fat-freezing process called cryolipolysis that works by freezing fat cells, killing and breaking them down in the process. The idea first came into play when scientists were looking into what happens to the body during frostbite. What they came to realize is that fat freezes faster and at a higher temperature than skin. Cryolipolysis protects your skin and tissue during the treatment while the fat is freezing off. CoolSculpting is a safe and effective service that will destroy up to 25% of fat cells.

THE HISTORY OF FAT FREEZING

Years ago, scientists at Harvard University discovered Cryolipolysis entirely by accident. They observed that some children who frequently ate popsicles experienced a loss of fat cells in their cheeks over time, sometimes even resulting in dimples. The scientists—Dieter Manstein, MD and R. Rox Anderson, MD—realized that the popsicles were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells.

The idea that cold can target fat cells—without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue—was the insight behind cryolipolysis, the proven science on which the CoolSculpting procedure is based.

Using this idea, they were able to patent a new technology to perform a similar, more targeted cooling procedure on different areas of the body, and obtained FDA Clearance in 2016.

LOSING WEIGHT VS. LOSING FAT

We go through life with the same number of fat cells; typically, this number is set during our adolescence. Over time, as we intake calories, age, and go through other biological processes (such as pregnancy), these fat cells expand and change our outer appearance.

The process of losing weight does not eliminate fat cells. When we diet and exercise, these fat cells do become smaller; however, the actual number of cells does not change. Even those living a healthy lifestyle may have stubborn areas of fat that are not affected by diet or exercise, no matter how many sit-ups they do.

This is where CoolSculpting comes in. Rather than the “shrinking” process that normally occurs during regular diet and exercise, CoolSculpting ensures fat cells are eliminated altogether. While this loss of fat cells does not contribute to “weight loss” in the sense that the number you see on a scale would not be affected, it does mean looking and feeling slimmer in your own clothes.
