Retinol Is a Must

First off if you’re obsessed with skincare like us you may already be using a retinol. But if you’re not this is one of the best skincare hacks to address signs of age and skin texture. Retinol’s main ingredient is vitamin A and it works on the surface of the skin to regulate cell turnover. It improves the productions of collagen and elastin which keeps the skin looking young. The strength of retinol will also treat acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. While it’s still important that you pick the right retinol to get the job done. We highly recommend looking into medical-grade products because they contain the purest of ingredients and are tested by dermatologists. While medical-grade skincare products can only be prescribed by a skin expert you should have one of our estheticians check out your skin and set you up with the right product.

Is Botox For You?

What is Botox? This is one of the most common questions when it comes to Botox. Everyone seems to know that it treats signs of age such as wrinkles and fine lines. But what Botox really is a neurotoxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. The confusing part about botox is that it does not directly treat the wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. When botox is injected into the concerned areas it targets those active muscles under the skin. Throughout your lifetime you will make multiple facial expressions and this causes the wrinkles to form. Sometimes we make these facial expressions without even realizing it. Like when we squint from the sun this could cause wrinkles around the eye region. Botox stops those muscles from contracting and blocks the nerve transmission. The muscle essentially becomes blocked so even if the brain signals your body to move the muscle it is “frozen”.

Microneedling+PRP

Microneedling can treat just about any skin concern but some of the most common things it focuses on treating are age spots, wrinkles, scarring, and some types of hyperpigmentation. But when you combine microneedling and PRP this is the MVP team of skin treatments. Microneedling and PRP are a well known treatment due to celebrity Kim Kardashian’s post of the “Vampire Facial”. Everyones first question is does this treatment hurt? The answer is no. Kim’s scary post with blood on her face might have you intrigued and terrified. But this treatment does not it hurt, for some It might be a bit uncomfortable but your provider will offer numbing cream as an option. One of our amazing providers at Images Med Spa in Wilmette will draw blood and spin it in a centrifuge. This separates PRP from other parts of the red and white blood cells. The microneedling part of the treatment will last up to 30mins. After microneedling the PRP is then massaged into the treated areas of the face. The microneedling essentially works as the wounding part of the treatment since little micro punctures were treated to the skin. The PRP will penetrate the skin and collagen will repair the skin’s surface.

Filler For Volume

Fillers are without doubt one of our favorite treatments at Images Med Spa in Mokena. We get many questions when comes to fillers because this is one of our client’s favorite treatments as well. Fillers are used to plump areas of the skin while reducing fine lines and boosting collagen production. You can get fillers where ever you’re looking to plump the skin. We all lack areas on our faces that don’t have the amount of volume we desire. Especially as we begin to age the skin sags due to the loss of collagen. Collagen production is crucial to having youthful glowing skin and unfortunately, after the age of 25 that production slows down. Collagen can be thought of as the glue that holds everything together and as that production slows down the face will no longer hold the same structure it once did. Some common places to get fillers in the lips, cheeks, and under the eye. There are many different fillers out there and two of the most popular ones are Juvederm and Restylane. The two products are made into a hyaluronic acid gel substance and are injected into the skin to create a plumper firm area. Fillers are temporary and only typically last between 6-9 months.
